Shiraku Tōsai is a Japanese Neo-Ukiyo-e artist reimagining the spirit of traditional Japanese woodblock prints through the lens of contemporary culture.

Drawing inspiration from the bold compositions, expressive figures, and visual language of the late Edo period, his work brings modern fashion, music, street culture, and everyday life into the world of Ukiyo-e.

Rather than simply reproducing the past, Shiraku Tōsai explores what Ukiyo-e might look like if it had continued evolving into the present day.

Tradition does not have to remain in the past.

Each work is a meeting point between Edo and now — created to carry the spirit of Ukiyo-e into a new era.
